15 More Mobile Medical Clinics (MMCs) launched in last 3 months.
We have started 15 more MMCs in several impoverished tribal blocks in Madhya Pradesh in districts of Jhabua, Dhar, Ratlam, Khargone, Balaghat, Shahdol, Khandwa and Sidhi. We now have 36 MMCs in 17 districts of MP covering 1887 interior and impoverished tribal villages in a fortnightly cycle.
At the present rate, these clinics are cumulatively serving 4 thousand patients everyday.
The first MMC was started on 14th June ’21 in Sheopur. These clinics have cumulatively served more than 17.5 Lac patients.
Our experience of working in remote and poor tribal villages in Madhya Pradesh had highlighted the dismal conditions of people suffering with various diseases or disabilities. Due to poverty, lack of access to good hospitals and doctors, they suffer from the illness without getting proper treatment. The worst hit are the elderly, womenfolk and children. Many of these illnesses are of chronic nature too. Therefore, we decided to launch mobile clinic service to serve such villages.
We employ a qualified doctor who visits 4-5 villages daily and examines around 100-150 patients. The clinics provide primary healthcare and also perform the crucial function of diagnosing serious ailments. Free medicines are provided to the patients. Those patients who are referred to Block or District Level Hospitals, because of serious illness, are also taken to these hospitals for treatment through our ambulance services. A significant number have been taken to higher centres like AIIMS Delhi, Jaipur, Nagpur, Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore etc.
The per person cost to us comes about Rs 56, which includes fuel cost, manpower costs, medical consultation and medicines.
The annual cost of running a single clinic is about Rs 16 Lacs.
We are endeavouring to set up around 10 more clinics in next 4 months.
