916 selections in Eklavya and other Special Residential Schools

About 4 weeks back we had shared in our last post that children from Parivaar Seva Kutirs have captured 555 seats from a total available number of 4292 seats in the Entrance of Special Residential Schools (Eklavya, Kanya Shiksha Parisar and Model Schools) in 19 districts of Madhya Pradesh and one district in Chhattisgarh.

The numbers have significantly increased after the release of the Second List. We have now 914 admissions across the state (total available seats around 7000).

A third list may also come in a few weeks time, so numbers may increase further.

A total of 3140 of our Class 5 children from Parivaar Seva Kutirs appeared for this examination which is conducted for admission into Class 6.

To our mind, this is fairly striking achievement given the fact that at the time of application for the examinations we had Seva Kutirs in about 800 villages / hamlets, there are many bigger villages and towns / cities, and presence of a comparatively privileged slice too among the tribal communities.

These Special Residential Schools have an average annual budget of nearly Rs 1.25 Lacs per student. Our children will be admitted into Class 6 and for the following 7 years (till Class 12 i.e. Higher Secondary) will continue in these institutions.
