Parivaar Kutirs in the high poverty-stricken Shoolpani Jhadi area of Barwani and Alirajpur districts in south-western part of Madhya Pradesh (bordering Gujarat and Maharashtra).
We have at last (since it was a much awaited dream of ours) rolled out our Seva Kutirs (supplementary education and nutrition centres) in one of most high-deprivation areas in the whole country. Search Shoolpani Jhadi and one will know what it is about. Difficult in access, this areas has Bhil tribes which are also spread over some some bordering districts of Gujarat (Chhota Udaipur, Dahod, Rajpipla), Maharashtra (Nandurbar) and Rajasthan.(Banswara).
Alirajpur district has the lowest literacy rate (of 37 percent) in the whole country (out of around 800 districts). Even in sub- ten degree temperatures to find a child with winterwear is a very rare sight.
I had also written a piece on Shoolpani Jhadi which can be read at :
We intend to set up 200 Seva Kutirs in these 2 districts over this year, and perhaps a part of the next, which will serve about 20 thousand children
